Aloo Keema Curry

Aloo Keema Curry is a flavorful Indian dish combining minced meat and potatoes in a rich, spiced tomato gravy, perfect for a hearty meal.

  • 300g minced meat (keema)
  • 2 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1-inch ginger piece, grated
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 1 green chili, chopped (optional)
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle.
  2. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Stir in garlic, ginger, and green chili; cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add turmeric, coriander, red chili powder, and salt; mix well.
  5. Add minced meat and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
  6. Add pureed tomatoes and cook until oil separates from the masala.
  7. Add diced potatoes and water; stir to combine.
  8. Cover and simmer on low heat for 20-25 minutes until potatoes are tender and meat is cooked through.
  9. Sprinkle garam masala and stir gently.
  10. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.

Notes

For extra richness, add a splash of cream or serve with warm naan or basmati rice for a complete meal.
