  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and diced
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Cut in the cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Gradually add water, mixing until dough forms. Roll out dough on a floured surface and cut into 2-inch dumplings.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix cooked chicken, sour cream, cream of chicken soup, shredded cheddar cheese, onions, green bell pepper, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Spread the chicken mixture evenly in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  6. Place dumplings over the chicken mixture evenly.
  7. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the dumplings.
  8. Bake uncovered in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes or until dumplings are golden brown and casserole is bubbly.
  9. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, sprinkle fresh chopped parsley on top before serving or add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the chicken mixture for a mild kick.
