Freshly Prepared Banana Oatmeal Bars

These Banana Oatmeal Bars are a wholesome, naturally sweet snack packed with ripe bananas and hearty oats, perfect for breakfast or an on-the-go treat.

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the mashed bananas, honey (or maple syrup), applesauce, and vanilla extract.
  3. Add the rolled oats, ground cinnamon, and salt; stir until well combined.
  4. Fold in the chopped nuts and chocolate chips if using.
  5. Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking pan and press down gently.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the bars are set and the edges are golden.
  7. Allow to cool completely in the pan before cutting into bars.

Notes

For extra flavor, drizzle with melted peanut butter or yogurt before serving. Store bars in an airtight container for up to one week.
