Belgian Waffles

These Belgian waffles are light, crisp, and fluffy, perfect for a delicious breakfast or brunch treat. They boast a golden exterior and a soft interior, ideal for topping with syrup, fruit, or whipped cream.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs, separated
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat egg yolks, then add milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract; mix well.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. In a separate clean bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  6. Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the batter to keep it light and fluffy.
  7. Spray the waffle iron with non-stick cooking spray. Pour batter onto the iron and cook until waffles are golden brown and crisp.
  8. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings such as maple syrup, berries, or whipped cream.

Notes

For extra crispiness, try using melted butter instead of vegetable oil and avoid over-mixing the batter to keep waffles light.
