Freshly prepared Chai Tea Latte on white plate

A warm and aromatic Chai Tea Latte made with a blend of spices and black tea, steamed milk, and a touch of sweetness. Perfect for cozy mornings or relaxing afternoons.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 black tea bags
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 green cardamom pods, crushed
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 1-inch piece fresh ginger, sliced
  • 1 star anise (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black peppercorns
  • 2 cups milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine water, cinnamon stick, cardamom, cloves, ginger, star anise, and peppercorns. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
  2. Add the black tea bags to the saucepan and steep for 5 minutes off the heat.
  3. Strain the tea concentrate into a clean saucepan or large measuring cup, discarding the solids.
  4. Add milk, honey (or maple syrup), and vanilla extract to the strained tea and heat gently over medium heat until hot but not boiling.
  5. Whisk or froth the chai latte to desired frothiness.
  6. Pour into mugs and serve warm.

Notes

For a vegan option, use plant-based milk and maple syrup instead of honey. Sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon on top before serving for extra flavor.
