Classic Meatloaf

This Classic Meatloaf combines seasoned ground beef with breadcrumbs and savory spices, baked to perfection for a comforting and hearty meal that’s perfect for dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • Optional: ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, and parsley if using.
  3. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, thyme, and oregano.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the meat mixture and mix gently until just combined; avoid overmixing.
  5. Shape the meat mixture into a loaf on a lined baking sheet or in a loaf pan.
  6. Spread a thin layer of ketchup over the top of the meatloaf for glaze.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 60–70 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  8. Remove from oven and let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, try adding a splash of barbecue sauce on top before baking or serve with mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables.
