Date Brownies

Delightfully rich and naturally sweet, these Date Brownies are a wholesome twist on a classic treat, combining whole dates and cocoa for a chewy, fudgy texture perfect for dessert or snack.

  • 1 cup pitted dates
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8 inch baking pan.
  2. In a food processor, blend the pitted dates until finely chopped and sticky.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk melted butter, eggs, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Stir in the chopped dates.
  5. In a separate bowl, sift together cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  7. Fold in chopped walnuts if using.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs.
  10. Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares and serving.

Notes

For extra fudginess, slightly underbake the brownies and let them cool in the pan. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a decadent treat.
