garlic cottage cheese naan

Garlic cottage cheese naan is a soft, flavorful Indian flatbread stuffed with spiced paneer and infused with aromatic garlic, perfect as a delicious accompaniment to any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup paneer (cottage cheese), grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup warm water (adjust as needed)
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh coriander
  • 2 tbsp melted butter or ghee
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  2. Add yogurt and warm water gradually, kneading into a soft dough. Cover and let it rest for 1 hour.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine grated paneer, minced garlic, chopped coriander, and a pinch of salt.
  4. Divide the dough into equal-sized balls.
  5. Roll out one dough ball into a small circle, place a spoonful of paneer mixture in the center.
  6. Fold the edges over the filling and seal tightly; gently roll again to form a naan shape.
  7. Heat a skillet or tawa over medium heat. Place the naan on it and cook until bubbles form, about 1-2 minutes.
  8. Flip the naan and cook the other side until golden brown spots appear.
  9. Brush with melted butter or ghee and sprinkle cumin seeds if using.
  10. Serve hot with your favorite curry or chutney.

Notes

For extra softness, you can add a tablespoon of milk to the dough and cook the naan covered for a minute on the skillet.
