Gordon Ramsay Beef Stroganoff

Gordon Ramsay’s Beef Stroganoff is a rich and creamy Russian-inspired dish featuring tender strips of beef cooked with mushrooms and onions in a luscious sour cream sauce, perfect for a comforting dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500g beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 250g button mushrooms, sliced
  • 150ml beef stock
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 150ml sour cream
  • 2 tbsp brandy or white wine (optional)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish
  • Cooked egg noodles or rice, to serve

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef strips and quickly sear until browned but not cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and sauté until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add the minced garlic and sliced mushrooms, cooking until the mushrooms are browned, about 5 minutes.
  4. Pour in the brandy or white wine (if using) and let it reduce for 1-2 minutes.
  5. Stir in the beef stock and Dijon mustard, bring to a simmer.
  6. Return the beef to the skillet and cook gently for 2-3 minutes until the beef is cooked through.
  7. Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the sour cream until well combined. Season with salt and pepper.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately over cooked egg noodles or rice.

Notes

For a richer flavor, try using crème fraîche instead of sour cream, and pair with buttered noodles or mashed potatoes for a classic touch.
