Ground Beef Stroganoff

Ground Beef Stroganoff is a comforting and creamy dish featuring tender ground beef and mushrooms in a savory sour cream sauce, perfect served over egg noodles or rice.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
  • Egg noodles or cooked rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onions and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add garlic and mushrooms; cook until mushrooms are tender, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned and no longer pink.
  4. Sprinkle flour over the meat and mushroom mixture. Stir well and cook for 1-2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
  5. Gradually add beef broth while stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Bring mixture to a simmer and cook until sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.
  6. Reduce heat to low, stir in sour cream and Worcestershire sauce. Heat gently without boiling. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve hot over cooked egg noodles or rice. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

For a richer flavor, try adding a splash of white wine before adding the beef broth or serve with steamed green vegetables for a balanced meal.
