Hamburger Steaks in Creamy Dill Sauce

Juicy hamburger steaks smothered in a rich and tangy creamy dill sauce, perfect for a comforting and flavorful dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 lemon, juiced
  • 1/4 cup beef broth

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, milk, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  2. Form the mixture into 4 equal-sized hamburger steaks.
  3. Heat butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the hamburger steaks and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add beef broth and scrape up any browned bits.
  5. Reduce heat to low and stir in sour cream, Dijon mustard, fresh dill, and lemon juice. Cook gently until the sauce is heated through but not boiling.
  6. Return the hamburger steaks to the skillet and spoon the creamy dill sauce over them. Simmer for 2-3 minutes to meld flavors.
  7. Serve the hamburger steaks hot, topped with extra dill if desired.

Notes

For a richer sauce, substitute half the sour cream with Greek yogurt. Serve with mashed potatoes or buttered noodles for a classic comfort meal.
