Sourdough Cheese Crackers

Crispy and flavorful sourdough cheese crackers made with natural sourdough starter and aged cheddar, perfect for snacking or entertaining.

  • 1 cup sourdough starter (discard or fed)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sharp aged cheddar cheese, grated
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the sourdough starter, flour, salt, and spices if using.
  3. Add the grated cheddar cheese and softened butter, mixing until a smooth dough forms.
  4. Roll the dough out between two sheets of parchment paper to about 1/8 inch thickness.
  5. Cut the dough into desired cracker shapes using a knife or cookie cutter.
  6. Place the crackers on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them slightly apart.
  7. Bake for 15–18 minutes or until golden and crisp.
  8. Allow to cool completely on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, sprinkle sea salt or sesame seeds on top before baking. These crackers pair wonderfully with your favorite dips or cheese spreads.
