Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients called for on the box)
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Optional: whipped cream for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chocolate cake according to the package instructions and bake in a 9×13 inch pan.
  2. While the cake is still warm, use the handle of a wooden spoon to poke holes all over the surface.
  3. Pour the caramel sauce evenly over the cake, allowing it to soak into the holes.
  4. Sprinkle chopped pecans over the caramel layer.
  5. In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream until just simmering, then pour over chocolate chips and butter in a heatproof bowl.
  6. Let sit for 5 minutes, then stir until smooth and glossy.
  7. Pour the chocolate glaze evenly over the top of the cake and pecans.
  8. Allow the cake to cool completely, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
  9. Serve chilled with optional whipped cream if desired.

Notes

For an extra crunchy topping, toast the pecans lightly before adding. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a decadent dessert experience.
